About us

We feel very lucky to live on the beautiful Matahua peninsula, and we love sharing our place with family, friends, guests and the many birds of the Waimea Inlet.

Elspeth grew up here in the 1960’s when the whole peninsula was an apple orchard. There are now three generations of our family living here.

Restoration of the bird habitat on the peninsula’s foreshore is a big part of what we are doing here. We host wwoofers (willing workers on organic farms) from all over the world who help us with planting and weeding on the coastal reserve, and also help in our vineyard, orchard and vegetable garden.

We hope that you will come and enjoy the peace and quiet and beauty at Matahua. We look forward to meeting you.

Elspeth and Kim
